About us

The Artistic-Civic League United (A-CLUe) is a community college student-led organization dedicated to fostering creativity, education, and community engagement. We provide equitable opportunities for artists and engage in leadership, charitable, educational, and scientific initiatives to benefit marginalized communities.

Mission

Our mission is to enrich the lives of community college students and the broader community by providing equitable accessibility and opportunities in the arts, education, and technology. We aim to empower marginalized and disenfranchised individuals through inclusive programs, innovative projects, and community engagement, fostering creativity, personal growth, and social responsibility.

Our Programs

We offer a variety of projects and programs aimed at promoting creativity and community engagement, including:

• The Summer Celebration of Diversity
• Weekend Movie/Game Events
• News Broadcasting/Telejournalism Project
• Student Leadership Meetings
• “Greenworks Experience” Science Program

Ongoing Projects

Summer Celebration of Diversity: An annual event that celebrates cultural diversity through performances, exhibitions, and community engagement. Born out of the Hartnell College Racial Equity Task Force, this initiative, known as Recommendation 27, was developed to promote anti-racism through campus forums and community events and combat racial inequities within the college and the broader community.

News Broadcasting/Telejournalism Project: We’re supporting a student broadcasting initiative headed by Hartnell College student, Daniel Orta. The project called the California Community College System Public Access Network (CCCSPAN) will provide gavel-to-gavel coverage, eyewitness news, and interviews related to community college public affairs.

“The Greenworks experience:” We’re currently campaigning to implement a new science program that involves project design, implementation, international collaboration, and a foreign exchange program, culminating in a capstone showcase. Students identify and solve local problems through science and robotic design, build robots or implement scientific experiments, and share relatable data with international cohorts through an online social media Citizen Science website. The program also includes an exchange component and a capstone showcase where students and communities present their work. The program offers accessibility to hands-on technology and skill-building.
